Resolution said Sir Malcolm Williamson has been appointed as chairman of Friends Provident, the insurer it bought last year. Williamson was appointed as a non-executive director of Friends Provident following the acquisition and was its acting chairman during Sir Mervyn Pedelty's recent illness. Resolution said Williamson has considerable experience across the financial services industry. He is currently a non-executive director of National Australia Bank, chairman of National Australia Group Europe, Clydesdale Bank and Signet Jewelers. Previously, he was chairman of CDC and Britannic Group. He was also president and chief executive of Visa International and chief executive of Standard Chartered.
