How to buy shares

The Vantage Share Account is a simple way to hold your shares. The shares are held in a nominee account and you benefit from a range of additional features as a result.

You have the freedom to deal in the way that suits you, either online or over the telephone.

Online share dealing - Our award winning online share dealing service enables you to place your deals quickly and simply at the touch of a button. You will receive access to market summaries, news and views from investment experts, free research, full transaction and portfolio management and much more.

Telephone share dealing - If you prefer you can use our telephone dealing service, placing your deals with a professional and knowledgeable dealer.

Settlement

All share dealing transactions through the Vantage Share Account are settled in line with London Stock Exchange settlement which is 'T+3' (i.e. deals are settled 3 working days after the trade date).

With such a quick settlement sale proceeds immediately become available for reinvestment ensuring you are never out of the market for more than a few minutes. When buying shares you need to have cleared funds in your account before making the purchase. You can pay in money by cheque, debit card or direct bank transfer.

Statements and valuations

If you deal online you will be able to view your portfolio and transaction history at any time, giving you a full breakdown of your share and investment holdings.

Twice a year you will receive a comprehensive printed statement and valuation. This details all your shares and any other investments you have brought into the Vantage Service. With all your investments in one place you have greater control of your portfolio.

Reduce your paperwork

As all your shares will be held in our nominee account we look after all the paperwork, leaving you to concentrate on investment decisions. That means we take care of all corporate actions and associated paperwork.

Dividends

We collect all dividends paid on your share holdings and pay the money into your account straight away. This has the added benefit of earning interest sooner than if you had to bank a dividend cheque. You will also receive one consolidated dividend voucher which can simplify your tax return.
