How do I transfer my shares into an ISA?

Under Inland Revenue rules you can not transfer your shares directly into an ISA. However, you can do a Bed & ISA which involves us selling the shares and buying them back in your ISA. If you Bed and ISA your Hargreaves Lansdown shares, we shall waive the normal stockbroking commission to sell your shares, saving you as much as £50. All you pay is 1% (minimum £10, maximum £50) to buy your shares back within the ISA and stamp duty of 0.5%. Thereafter the annual management charge to hold shares is just 0.5% (+VAT).

How do I transfer my shares into a SIPP?

Under Inland Revenue rules you can not transfer your shares directly into an SIPP. However, if you have an existing SIPP with Hargreaves Lansdown you can do a 'Bed & SIPP' which involves us selling the shares and buying them back in your SIPP. If you Bed and SIPP your shares, we shall waive the normal stockbroking commission to sell your shares. All you pay is 1% (minimum £10, maximum £50) to buy your shares back within the SIPP. Stamp duty is also payable at 0.5%.

To do this please send us a letter of instruction, including your HL client number to our Dealing Department at our usual address.

How do I transfer my shares from a Vantage Share Account to a Securities Management Account?

If you have an existing Securities Management Account and wish to transfer your shareholding(s) to a Securities Management Account please send a written letter of instruction signed by the account holder to: Nominee Department, Hargreaves Lansdown, Kendal House, 4 Brighton Mews, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 2NX. Please remember to write your HL Client Number on the letter.

How do I obtain a share certificate?

The Vantage Share Account offers you a simple and easy way to hold your shares. We collect dividends for you, and send you regular valuations for your holding. However, if you do want to hold your shares in certificated format you can write to us to request a share certificate. We will make a charge of £12.50 per holding (subject to a minimum charge of £25) to transfer your shares into certificated format. Please send a letter of instruction to: Nominee Department, Hargreaves Lansdown, Kendal House, 4 Brighton Mews, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 2NX. Please remember to write your HL Client Number on the letter.
