Despite last year’s volatility, the Russian economy is still relatively strong and we are pleased to see the recent pick up in the market. The Russian government has been proactive in using its reserves to address problems. The fund remains focused on larger companies, favouring mobile phone companies which have benefited from strong consumer growth. Elsewhere, exposure to energy has increased as these are expected to grow and return a profit.

Robin Geffen was educated at Keble College, Oxford and having spent a period of time working in industry as a management trainee, he moved into financial services and started his fund management career at Charterhouse J Rothchild. After more than 20 years of experience, he set up Neptune Investment Management in 2002, where he is the Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer.
