John joined Henry Cooke Fund Management (later acquired by Brown Shipley) in 1994 after a long career in stockbroking and investment management starting in 1973, three years after gaining an honours degree in psychology at Leeds University. Having managed several funds including Arkwright Growth and Solus UK Growth, John was appointed Chief Investment Officer of Solus Funds in December 2002, before relinquishing his role with fund management in late 2003 to head up the equity activities of Brown Shipley's parent company Kredietbank Luxembourg. John returned to the fund management department in October 2006.
