Fund Manager. Alec has worked in the insurance business since 1967, firstly as an insurance broker in the London market before he joined Hiscox plc in 1976. He is Managing Director of Hiscox Investment Management overseeing over £1 billion of investments. He has been the fund manager of the Hiscox Insurance Portfolio Fund since its launch in 1998. Alec has over 38 years experience of the insurance market and knowledge of the specific requirements of insurers regarding the investments supporting underwriting, technical reserves and solvency capital. It was his idea to launch the HIP Fund and it still remains the only fund in Europe specialising exclusively in international insurance shares.
