While Richard Buxton is wary of increased volatility in the UK stock market, he remains comfortable with the portfolio's current mix of economically sensitive and more defensive holdings. There is also a preference for companies with a strong degree of overseas exposure given the uncertain outlook for the UK economy. He has been encouraged to see holdings like Rolls-Royce and Burberry report strong recent earnings.
