Mark attended the University of Bristol gaining a Geography BSc (Hons). In 2000, he obtained a Masters in Finance from the London Business School. He is also an Associate of Institute of Investment Management and Research (AIIMR).

Mark spent two years working for Abbey National plc and then moved to Hambros Fund Management as assistant portfolio manager European Equities. In 1997, he joined United Friendly Asset Mangement as a fund manager for European Equities. Mark joined AXA Framlington as a fund manager in June 2000.
