HL Research - Our view on this Fund

Mark Dampier After a flying start to the year, the last few months have been difficult for this fund. Its large exposure to resources initially helped but since the fall out in the sector it has suffered. John Dodd is sticking to his stance hoping for a bounce, especially on the back of any increased merger and takeover activity. Although as we enter into a tough period for smaller companies, he believes his strategy should deliver long term outperformance.

John Dodd graduated from Heriot-Watt University,following which he worked at LAS Investment Management and Gulf International Bank in Bahrain.He moved to Gartmore in 1988,where he spent five years before joining Ivory & Sime plc as Senior Investment Manager responsible for smaller company investments in the UK. John is a director and founder member of Artemis. He has managed the Artemis UK Smaller Companies Fund since it's launch on 3rd April 1998.
